WORK, ENJOY, LIVE, LOVE: 4 COORDINATES OF HUMAN EXISTENCE

September is an important month for work and training activities, in these days school and professional projects are resuming with energy.

With the return to the office and the reopening of the classrooms for many people this is also the time to rethink their workspace, to review its layout and redesign its functions.

The design of post Covid-19 spaces, their functionality and usefulness are topics of comparison for architects and designers. In this regard, architecture schools and design academies have also faced a number of important issues and challenges.

Among the schools protagonists of this comparison is ABADIR, Academy of Design and Visual Communication located on the slopes of Mount Etna, active on a local, national and international scale in the training of young people on the disciplines of design and new media, boasting collaborations and partnerships with Italian and European companies and institutions. ABADIR promotes design as a transformative discipline, capable of triggering change: aware of the social responsibility of the designer, we propose activities that generate virtuous practices in the area, in the context of the design of material goods, services and communication.

In an era of great transformations that change the way we live and work, design and digital skills are key disciplines to face and manage the changes taking place. ABADIR, with the collaboration of  Analogique and Level Office, has created an experimental project by identifying the four coordinates that guide our life (life, leisure, love and work) and reviewing their application in the spaces.

From the eccentric way of life of Hugh Hefner, founder of Playboy, a capsule of 2.40m by 2.40m was designed. Inside, the space for leisure, for living, for loving connected to plants through microphones that reproduce their imperceptible breathing. Work outside. All connected by technology: what happens inside is projected outside. The public and private spheres are completely separate and at the same time hybridized: private life and work remain on two different but continuously interconnected levels. A complex project to reflect on the new layout of spaces and the new ways to experience them. In these new environments the furnishing accessories, such as the seats, are not the protagonists but an integral part of a thought that sees every single element dialogue in harmony to create harmony.
